Bickerstaff: Not My Fault

Associated Press

Former Nuggets coach and general manager Bernie Bickerstaff won’t pin the blame on anyone for Denver’s dismal season.

But, in town last week to put his house up for sale, he refused to take the fall for the team’s 21-61 record.

Bickerstaff, now the coach of the Washington Wizards, has been blamed for letting center Dikembe Mutombo leave as a free agent, forcing Dan Issel to resign as coach and intimidating team owners.

He said the Nuggets failed because of team dynamics.

“I think most definitely they would have improved if they had played together and stayed together,” Bickerstaff said. “That’s my opinion. That’s why you brought them in.”
