Prep, U-Hi Step Up Into Playoffs

GSL baseball

The Greater Spokane League regular season ended Tuesday in a fit-to-be-tied mode.

University and Gonzaga Prep won their games to qualify for the District 8-AAA playoffs, and both tied Shadle Park for fourth place with 8-8 records.

Central Valley’s win and Ferris’ loss knotted the two at 10-6, second place. CV and Ferris will break the tie at 3:45 p.m. today at Rogers.

The U-Hi/G-Prep/Shadle deadlock will be broken by coin flips at G-Prep this morning. The winner will be No. 4 and open district Friday at 3:45 p.m. at Seafirst Stadium against the No. 5. The loser will be No. 6 and open district at 1 p.m. against No. 3, Ferris or CV.

The Ferris/CV winner has a district bye until Saturday. GSL champ Mead (13-3) awaits the survivor in a Tuesday game for regional seeding.
