Boxing Pension Proposed

Sen. John McCain, a boxing fan, has introduced the next step in his drive to reform the sport: a pension plan for fighters.

“The boxing industry has several million dollars in revenues each year,” the Arizona Republican told a hearing of the Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee. “Yet, it is surely the only major sport that does not provide for its athletes once their competitive days are over.”
