This Cabinet Fills Corners
Blending distinct styling with a clever use of space, traditional corner cabinets are as popular as ever. They are ideal for filling empty corners in kitchens and dining rooms and for displaying china and collectibles.
The do-it-yourself corner cabinet pictured here is a classic example. It fits snugly into a corner and has three display shelves behind paned glass doors on top and two shelves behind wooden doors on the bottom. It’s built from pine and can be finished with stain, paint or a clear sealer.
Required materials include standard pine lumber and two sheets of pine plywood, glass, molding, dowels and hardware. The project requires several hours of careful work, but calls mostly for straight cuts. The decorative curved pieces for the facing are simply traced onto wood using full-size patterns, so there’s no guesswork involved.
The completed cabinet measures 74 inches tall by 44 inches wide by 24 inches deep.
The Corner Cabinet plan, No. 659, is $7.95 and includes step-by-step instructions with 12 photos, full-size traceable patterns, exploded assembly diagrams and a complete shopping list and cutting schedule.
A package of four hutch plans, No. C26, is $17.95 and includes this corner cabinet, a corner hutch, a Welsh cabinet and a china cabinet. A catalog picturing hundreds of projects is $3.95. Prices include postage and handling (for first-class mail, add $1 per item up to $3 maximum).
