Best And Brightest Will Receive Local Scholarships

Local high school students have been selected to receive Scholars Program scholarships of up to $3,000 for four years as part of the University of Idaho’s effort aimed at keeping Idaho’s best and brightest students in the state. Students and their schools are: Ryan Liverman, Coeur d’Alene High School; Seth Gibbon, Post Falls High School; Benjamin Schwantes, Logos School in Moscow; George Gardes, Timothy Garton, Joshua Johnson and Francis MacDonald, Moscow High School; Anna Zemke, Post Falls High School; and Peter Davis and Tammy Owens, Sandpoint High School.

The University of Idaho chapter of Phi Eta Sigma, a national freshman honorary society, recently selected local students as new members. Students must complete a minimum of 12 credit hours with a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher. Students and their hometowns are listed.

Bonners Ferry: Sara Douthit, a psychology major and daughter of Steve and Ruth Douthit; and Kelli Ripatti, an architecture major and daughter of Michael and Karen Ripatti.

Coeur d’Alene: Patrick Marclay, an instrumental performance major and son of Alexander and Cheryl Barclay; Myra Bruning, a general studies major and daughter of John and Sheila Bruning; Melissa Hodge, an accounting major and daughter of Reese and Peggy Hodge; Jerid Keefer, a production and operations management major and son of Ronald and Carolyn Keefer; and Augusta Sheck, an economics major and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Sheck.

Deary: Jeffrey Ward, a mechanical engineering major and son of Dennis and Bonita Ward.

Hayden: James Cultra, a chemical engineering major and son of James and Barbara Cultra.

Hayden Lake: Michaela Denny, a general studies major and daughter of Robert Denny and Cynthia Ingle. Hope: Donella Pratt, a landscape architecture major and daughter of James and Carleen Pratt.

Juliaetta: Tracey Teaford, a journalism and mass communications major and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Niles Squires.
