Folk Singer Buckley Missing After Swim
Folk singer Jeff Buckley was missing Friday, a day after he disappeared while swimming in the Mississippi River.
Buckley went swimming shortly after 9 p.m. Thursday and hadn’t been seen since.
He is the son of cult songwriter Tim Buckley, and while described as a folk singer, his music has tended more toward rock than folk. Critics compared his sweeping voice to Van Morrison’s and his bombastic lyrics to those of Led Zeppelin.
His 1994 debut record “Grace” yielded the alternative hit “Last Goodbye” in the spring of 1995.
Tim Buckley died of a drug overdose in 1975 at age 28.
