Hints From Heloise

King Features Syndicate

Dear Heloise: We find it very handy to have phone books from the towns where family members now live. They contain local information plus readily available numbers of hospitals, physicians, florists, etc. At first we just used their old book, but now they get one for us when the new ones come out.

As family members move about it helps us keep in touch and learn about where they are living. It is very handy concerning older relatives when it comes to gifts and health care.

I enjoy learning from your hints all the time. - Jane Yecny, Sheridan, Mont.

Dear Heloise: In my neighborhood I have the luxury of having my newspaper delivered directly to my front door. Often the paper is caught in the closing storm door and then gets torn as I pick it up.

Double-stick tape and a plastic magazine file solved the problem. Securely taped to the inside of the storm door, the file fits perfectly between the two doors. No more torn papers and there’s the bonus of not having to bend over to pick up the newspaper. - Jim Taylor, Geneseo, N.Y.
