Quest Drop Stingrays For 5th Straight Win

Tonya Edwards scored 21 points Sunday night to lead host Columbus to a 78-61 victory over the Long Beach Stingrays, extending the defending ABL champion Quest’s winning streak to five games. Shannon Johnson set a franchise record with 10 assists for Columbus (7-2).

Carolyn Jones scored a game-high 20 points, pulled down 10 rebounds and handed out five assists as visiting New England defeated Philadelphia.

New England led 69-67 late in the fourth quarter when Jones sank two free throws with 2:19 left, beginning a 9-3 run that finished off the Rage.

Val Whiting scored 18 points and Shalonda Enis added 16 as visiting Seattle held off San Jose.

San Jose trailed 57-53 at the beginning of the fourth quarter, but managed to tie the score at 64 on Katryna Gaither’s jumper with 4:58 left. The Reign responded with an 8-0 run and held the Lasers scoreless the rest of the game.

Kate Starbird had 11 points for Seattle (3-7). Gaither added 14 points and Charlotte Smith had 10 for San Jose (2-7). xxxx
