Better Hurry, Before St. Louis Gets Same Idea

Jimmy Stewart International Airport would replace LAX if a county supervisor gets his way. The late film star flew 20 World War II combat missions - all the more reason why Los Angeles International should be renamed after him, Supervisor Mike Antonovich says.

“Few people realize that Gen. James ‘Jimmy’ Stewart played an important role in World War II,” Antonovich says. “Rather than taking the opportunity to stay in Hollywood, he chose to fight. And fight, he did.”

Stewart, whose films include “It’s a Wonderful Life,” “Rear Window” and “The Spirit of St. Louis,” joined the Army Air Corps at age 32. He was assigned to command the 703rd Squadron in England before becoming colonel of the 2nd Air Division. He earned the Distinguished Flying Cross. He was 89 when he died July 2.

Loose talk

Justifying the reported $285 mil price tag for his new disaster flick, director James Cameron offers this positive spin: “What you will lose as a result of a film like ‘Titanic’ is maybe three Steven Seagal films.”

The other Dylan Thomas never touched milk

Pierce Brosnan and wife Keely Shaye Smith appear on the cover of December’s Redbook with her nursing their baby boy, Dylan Thomas.

Editor-in-chief Kate White says the photo choice had nothing to do with the breast-feeding, it just was “the most beautiful (shot) of them as a family unit.”

She adds that she doesn’t think readers will “be bent out of shape,” noting that since the flap over a similar shot of Deborah Norville in a 1991 People mag, “we’ve become more accepting.”

Maybe she watched ‘The Way We Were’ too many times

James Brolin tells Barbara Walters in a sit-down set to air Nov. 14 that while he was in Ireland recently directing the movie “My Brother’s War,” Barbra Streisand got up every day at 5:30 a.m. to cook him breakfast.

They claim it’s a very ‘moving’ biography

The bad news: “Jen-X: Jenny McCarthy’s Open Book,” purporting to tell the thrilling story of the ex-Playboy centerfold and actress’ life, is headed to the bookstores.

The good news: You don’t have to buy it with your hard-earned money. Entertainment Weekly hits the book’s high points:

Amount of money Jenny McCarthy spent on her breast implants: $1,500.

Number of times she tells young girls not to get implants: 3.

Number of times she mentions her desire to have her implants removed: 7.

Number of her uncles who are priests: 6.

Number of those uncles who damned her soul to hell for posing in Playboy: 1.

Number of years since her last confession: 13.

Number of references to her bowel movements: 22.
