Idaho Gets Strong Play At Net To Down Boise State In Big West Volleyball
Beth Craig, Jessica Moore and Kyle Leonard each totaled 11 kills to lead Idaho to a 15-6, 15-6, 15-13 Big West volleyball win Saturday over Boise State at Memorial Gym in Moscow.
Anna Reznicek piled up 36 assists for the Vandals (15-12, 9-5).
The Broncos (18-11, 8-6) had a dismal .088 attack percentage for the three matches.
Sacramento State tightened up the Big Sky race with a 15-6, 15-8, 14-16, 15-7 win over Eastern Washington at Sacramento, Calif.
Shannon Beatty and Carissa Buie combined for 35 kills and 31 digs to pace the Hornets (19-6, 11-3).
The Eagles (20-4, 11-2) were led by the 18 kills and 22 digs of Lynn Robinson.
Wrestling
North Idaho’s Shaun Williams beat teammate Jared Osborn 4-0 in the 118-pound class at the NIC Takedown Tournament on Saturday.
The win earned Williams the tourney’s outstanding wrestler award.
Other Cardinals winners were: Cole Dension (126), Ryan Gutzwiler (167) and Thor Stangeland (190).
Women’s soccer
Seventh-ranked Willamette had to go to a shootout before knocking the Whitworth women out of the NCIC soccer semifinal round by a 1-0 score.
Willamette outscored the Pirates 4-2 in the shootout. Bearcats goalkeeper Robin Heard had two saves and then scored the game-winning goal.
The Bearcats outshot Whitworth 29-7.
Men’s basketball
Deon Williams and reserve Chris White each tossed in 13 points to lead Eastern Washington to a 79-57 exhibition win Saturday over the Albury Bandits at Cheney’s Reese Court.
Kevin Lewis came off the bench to score 12 points and Karim Scott added 11 points for the Eagles.
Shamon Antrum topped Albury with 10 points.
Bradley defeated Spokane’s NBC Thunder 67-57 in an exhibition game Saturday in Peoria, Ill.
Nico Harrison’s 15 points topped the Thunder.
