Georgia Slips Past Texas
Michael Chadwick hit two free throws with 1:37 to play to put No. 19 Georgia ahead, and new coach Ron Jirsa got his first victory with an 89-87 win over No. 22 Texas in the third-place game in the Coaches Against Cancer Classic on Wednesday night.
Jirsa, who got the job after Tubby Smith left for Kentucky, could not celebrate until a surprisingly wide-open 3-pointer by Gabe Muoneke bounced off the front of the rim at the buzzer.
Princeton, which beat Texas in overtime on Tuesday, defeated North Carolina State 38-36 in the championship game.
