Two Inmates Escape From Prison Farm

From Staff And Wire Reports

Police and Washington State Penitentiary employees searched for two minimum security inmates who walked away from an honor farm Wednesday.

A routine count of outside workers at 10:30 a.m. revealed the two had walked away from the prison’s heifer farm in a heavy fog, prison spokeswoman Mark Christensen said.

The two were serving sentences for drug dealing and were not considered dangerous, Christensen said.

Officers with tracking dogs searched near the prison for Hipolito M. Gomez, 33, and Eduardo Quiroz-Romo, 28. Gomez was from Seattle, while Quiroz-Romo had a Pasco address.

Gomez was sent to the prison in January to serve consecutive 77-month sentences for unlawful delivery of cocaine. Quiroz-Romo had been at the prison since December 1996, serving a 46-month sentence for unlawful delivery of cocaine.
