Edward Snyder Spokane
Edward M. Snyder is 100 years old today.
Snyder was born Nov. 14, 1897, in Coon Rapids, Iowa.
He moved here by covered wagon with his family in 1923, herding horses and a cow with them. He’s lived in his Millwood home for 40 years.
He and his wife, Birdie, were parents of two sons, Russell Snyder, Spokane, and the late Robert Snyder, who died in 1932. Mrs. Snyder died in 1983.
Snyder retired from Hillyard Fuel and Lumber in 1963, but he never truly “retired.” Once a week for 33 years, he has taught and danced with members at the Day Out Center for the Blind.
Besides dancing, Snyder attributes his longevity to eating his noon dinner six days a week at The Chef Restaurant. That, and an occasional shot of “liquid vitamin C,” known to others as bourbon.
