Gold Reserve Ruling Delayed
Gold Reserve Corp. reported that its application for a vein concession at the Brisas gold project in Venezuela has been delayed by the temporary suspension of new mining concessions in the Imataca Forest Reserve.
The company said its existing mining concessions will not be affected by the Venezuelan Ministry of Energy and Mines ruling. A definitive ruling is expected within four months.
Gold Reserve submitted its application for the vein concession in 1993. In the past four years, the company has invested $60 million in the project and identified a mineralized deposit of 7.3 million ounces of gold and 950 million pounds of copper at the Brisas.
