School Demolition May Begin Monday

With the blessing of the state Supreme Court, the demolition of St. Patrick’s Catholic School will begin Monday.

St. Patrick Catholic Church wants to level the school to make way for a new pastoral center, but preservationists delayed the demolition for three years through a series of court actions.

The state Supreme Court earlier this month ruled the church could proceed with demolition and refused to extend an appeals court’s temporary stay.

City officials said the church has obtained all the necessary permits for demolition.
