Elsie Stites Spokane

Today is C. Elizabeth “Elsie” Stites’ 102nd birthday. She was born Oct. 2, 1895, to George and Anna Maria Stricker, near Chattaroy.

She has lived in Washington state all of her life, the last five years in Spokane.

She and Harvey Stites were married July 3, 1916, and were fruit growers in the Greenbluff area.

They were also fruit growers when they moved to Yakima in 1930 and to Granger two years later.

Mr. Stites died in 1953.

They were the parents of June Munroe of Spokane; and the late Douglas Stites and Donald Stites.

Mrs. Stites has three grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She attributes her longevity to living and eating right, and having good genes. , DataTimes ILLUSTRATION: Photo
