Wyoming Refuses To Look Past Unbeaten Grizzlies
It would be a mistake to underestimate Montana when the Grizzlies face Wyoming in Laramie this weekend, according to Cowboys coach Dana Dimel.
The Grizzlies (3-0) come into the game undefeated with only eight losses since 1993, reflecting an attitude that is causing Dimel some concern.
“They don’t know how to lose,” he said. “They’re the best I-AA team in the country. People have found that the top of the I-AA can come into the I-A and beat a lot of good football teams. They’ll be the most diverse offense we’ve seen all year.”
When the Cowboys (3-2) open play against Montana at 1 p.m. Saturday, it will mark the first game between the teams since 1963, when Wyoming picked up a 35-0 win to keep its record in its series against the Grizzlies perfect at 12-0.
But Montana this year will come at the Cowboys with an offense averaging 491 yards and 37 points per game, compared to Wyoming’s 363 yards and 30 points.
UM coach Mick Dennehy said his players were looking forward to the game despite the challenges.
