Nicholas Stark Earns Eagle Scout Award

Nicholas Stark, a member of Boy Scout Troop 313 at Hamblen Park Presbyterian Church, earned his Eagle Award last summer.

Stark, who has been deaf since he was a toddler, developed a communications manual for his Eagle project. The manual is for deaf children to use when they’re hospitalized. He donated copies to five area hospitals.

Stark, a graduate of Shadle Park High School, is attending California State University at Northridge. He is the son of Thom and Mary Stark.

Erinn Auclair and Lori Shaw, graduates of East Valley High School, received scholarships from Valley Hospital and Medical Center for the college of their choice.

The two women donated hundreds of hours at the medical center.

Shaw, who donated more than 1,700 hours since she began volunteering in 1993, is a student at Spokane Falls Community College. She intends to study pharmacy.

Auclair, who worked more than 800 hours since 1974, is studying nursing at Washington State University.

Timothy Curry Palmer was named to the Dean’s List at Northern Arizona University for spring semester. He is majoring in environmental engineering.

The following Inland Northwest students received the U.S. Army Reserve National Scholar/Athlete Awards last spring.

The program is to recognize and honor top high school scholars and athletes across the nation. The students and their high schools are listed:

Ferris; Joe Dauer and Danielle Davey, Lewis and Clark; Josh Green and Tria Tschirley, Medical Lake; Matthew Clouse and Katherine Supinger, Reardan (Wash.); Joseph Goldsworthy and Anne Henning, Rosalia (Wash.); Melissa Morton, Sprague (Wash.); and Kale Colyar and Tricia Lamb, St. John-Endicott (Wash.).

Robert Heydet of Deer Park graduated last spring from Xavier University, Cincinnati, Ohio.
