O’Donnell To Put Regular People On TV

Jean Prescott Biloxi Sun Herald

Rosie O’Donnell didn’t get to be No. 2 in daytime TV by forgetting about her audience. She knows they love her because she’s like them.

Well, she isn’t really like them, not anymore, but she used to be, hence the homey touches like snack cakes for every member of her studio audience.

She knows they love to watch her go ga-ga over Tom Cruise, but she also knows that people like to see themselves represented on the tube, and so, beginning next Monday, “The Rosie O’Donnell Show” will bring real Americans to national TV.

O’Donnell’s field soldier - call her a roving correspondent - will be the irrepressible Paula Poundstone: stand-up comedian, writer, foster mom, junk food connoisseur, and master of non-linear thinking and conversation.

Poundstone will deliver lifestyle pieces from around the country, covering local shopping and festivals, fairs and cook-offs. Look for reports from Poundstone about once a month.
