Former “Roseanne” star John Goodman is returning to his ABC roots on Oct. 21.

Goodman, who for nine seasons played Dan Connor on “Roseanne,” turns up in an episode of “Soul Man.”He will play Capt. Stan Hamel, an old Air Force veteran who is wrestling with alcoholism and guilt following the death of a friend.
