Alfredsson Leads Worlds

Sweden’s Helen Alfredsson shot a 6-under-par 66 for a 9-under 207 total to take a one-stroke lead over American Chris Johnson after the third round of the World Championship of Women’s Golf in Seoul, South Korea. Johnson, the LPGA Championship winner, shot a 67.

Len Mattiace shot a 7-under-par 65 at the Disney Golf Classic in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., giving him a chance to win his first PGA Tour event. At 18-under 198, he has a two-stroke lead over David Duval.

Defending champion Tiger Woods’ 70 put him nine strokes back at 207, in a group of six that included former Pullman resident Kirk Triplett, who shot a 67.

Bruce Summerhays shot a 6-under-par 65 to take a one-stroke lead over Hale Irwin and match the tournament two-day record with a 13-under 129 in the Senior PGA Tour’s Kaanapali Classic in Hawaii.

Mark O’Meara chipped in for an eagle at the 14th hole to beat Ryder Cup rival Lee Westwood and lead the United States into the semifinals of the Dunhill Cup with a 3-0 victory over England in St. Andrews, Scotland.
