Hints From Heloise

King Features Syndicate

Dear Readers: How can you keep outdoor light bulbs from rusting in their sockets? You know how difficult, if not impossible, they can be to remove, and sometimes you end up breaking the bulb while trying to unscrew it.

Well, the solution is simple. It’s petroleum jelly!

Before screwing the light bulb into the socket, lightly coat just the metal ring that screws into the socket with the petroleum jelly.

Next time the bulb needs replacing, it should be easy to remove. If you do this every time you replace an outside light bulb, your problem should be solved. - Heloise
