Chewelah Rolls Past Lakeside

Rushing, passing and defense have lifted Chewelah to the upper ranks of the state’s 2A teams.
The combination surfaced again Friday, as Ryan Walters rushed for 154 yards in the fifth-ranked Cougars’ 38-8 win over visiting Lakeside (3-4, 2-3).
Ryan Gray completed 5 of 11 passes for 99 yards, including three to Chris Eggleston for 64 yards, and Chewelah (7-0, 5-0) held Lakeside to 86 rushing yards on 38 carries.
Lakeside’s Adam Christen completed 5 of 9 for 79 yards.
Chewelah aims to at least tie for the league title on Friday at Medical Lake.

Brandon and Vince Moore combined for 17 carries and 140 yards as Medical Lake totaled 356 rushing yards.
Colville finished with 86 rushing yards and 37 passing.
