Both teams advance to the District 9-B Tournament, T-O as the No. 1 seed, L-W as No. 2. St. John-Endicott, the league runner-up, qualified as No. 3 by ousting fifth-seeded Garfield-Palouse 12-15, 15-9, 15-8.

The third-seeded host Spartans dropped their first two and were eliminated with Gar-Pal and Colton.

Ritzville and Davenport have clinched District 7-B Tournament berths and will play for the league tourney title Saturday night in Ritzville.

Reardan, Odessa and Wilbur-Creston have also qualified for the tourney. Liberty (4-5) will earn the sixth berth if if beats Christian Heritage (1-8) Monday.

A Greater Spokane League tiebreaking match is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, not Monday as reported in Saturday’s edition.

GSL soccer coordinator Dick Cullen will ask fellow activities coordinators at regularly scheduled Monday meeting for a 3 p.m. match at Mead to break a fifth-place tie between Gonzaga Prep and Central Valley.

Two topics Cullen will address Monday involve the league’s tiebreaking procedure and points system.

Cullen said the league agreed to a new points system before the year that did away with awarding one point for overtime losses. CV had an overtime loss against University, and under the old system would have had 13 points, one more than G-Prep.

CV expressed concern about having a playoff with Prep when it defeated the Bullpups during the regular season. But Cullen said the league has agreed to break ties for first and fifth places.
