U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service agents are appealing to the public for tips about a wolf that was shot in Idaho sometime in September.

The decomposing carcass was found last week in a meadow eight miles west of Elk River off Highway 8. The wolf was wearing a collar attached after it had been captured by researchers near Missloula. It was later released in Idaho.
