A Spokane Woman Leverages Power Of 1
If living in Spokane has ever stopped you from pursuing a huge, global idea, give a Dawn Davis a call. The Spokane woman, who works for People to People Ambassador Programs, heard heart-shocking stories of family violence in other countries.
Everyone knows about domestic violence in the United States, and Davis wasn’t content to just be sad and overwhelmed by a problem the entire Earth shares. She felt outraged and she got busy.
That’s how she ended up at the White House Tuesday, meeting with Hillary Clinton’s staff. That’s how she’ll end up in India next September at the World Conference on Family Violence.
With co-chairman Prema Mathai-Davis of the YWCA of the U.S.A., Dawn Davis is organizing the conference to look for solutions to family violence. People from all over the globe will share what has worked in their communities and in their countries.
The whole world will be watching.
And it all started in Spokane. One woman, one great idea, one international conference. May her example be followed by others.
