R&R; Hall Of Fame Inductees Picked
The Rock-and-Roll Hall of Fame’s inductees next year will include four rock groups the Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, the Mamas and Papas, and Santana and the performers Lloyd Price and Gene Vincent, it was announced Friday.
The induction ceremony, the 13th since the Hall of Fame was created in 1986, is to take place Jan. 12 at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York City. A tape of the ceremony is to be broadcast Jan. 19 on the cable channel VH-1.
The inductees, whose signatures will be included in an illuminated display at the Rock-and-Roll Museum in Cleveland, join such past inductees as the Beatles, James Brown, the Velvet Underground and the Shirelles.
Others to be inducted in January in special categories will be the jazz pianist Jelly Roll Morton and the pianist, songwriter and producer Allen Toussaint. About a thousand voters in the music industry take part in the selection.
