Golfers Unite
The five major men’s professional golf tours will co-host three tournaments as World Golf Championships starting in 1999.
The creation of the new events are the culmination of increased cooperation by the five tours - the U.S. PGA Tour, PGA European Tour, PGA Tour of Southern Africa, PGA Tour of Japan and PGA Tour of Australia - that has seen a new ranking system and the creation of a world money list.
Each tournament will have prize money of at least $4 million (U.S.), becoming among the richest events in the game.
