Obituaries

George Hatcher Spokane

Memorial service for George W. Hatcher, 75, is set for 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Aqua View Apartments recreation room on the third floor. A potluck dinner will follow the memorial service. Mr. Hatcher died Aug. 7.

He served in the Navy as a frogman.

He worked for several years in the mining industry in Idaho and as a truck driver out of California. He was also an apartment manager in Minneapolis and Spokane and worked as a surveyor with electrical/ construction building crews.

Two wives preceded him in death, Carmen Hatcher and Meg Hatcher.

There are no surviving family members.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Cremation Society of Washington.

Millard West Spokane

Graveside service for Millard Eugene West, 78, was Saturday at the St. John (Wash.) Cemetery.

Born in St. John, Mr. West died Wednesday.

He married Leona Mottaz in 1941.

He worked for Boeing and the Galena Army Air Depot and owned his own curbing contracting business out of Portland. He later owned a dairy for more than 20 years in Chewelah, Wash.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Dennis West of Aurora, Ore., Alan West of Ruther Glen, Va., and Gary West of Fairfax, Va.; a daughter, Vickie Nussbaum of Chewelah; four brothers, Howard, Lyle, Ronald and Bruce West; a sister, Ruth ; and seven grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Spokane or the American Cancer Society.

Donald McGee Spokane

No service will be held for Donald R. McGee, 67, at his request. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. McGee, who was born in Alberta, died Aug. 23.

He graduated from Mead High School in 1947 and served in the Army from 1947 to 1948.

Mr. McGee worked as a brakeman/conductor for the railroad in Spokane until his retirement in 1991.

Survivors include four daughters, Val Beberg of California, Vicky Knoll of Woodinville, Wash., Dahn Carey of Seattle and Nadine Martindale of California; three sons, Laine McGee of Auburn, Wash., Kyall McGee of Roseberg, Ore., and Tye McGee of Spokane; 16 grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Mable (Sager) Oshanyk Fairfield

Graveside service for Mable Viola (Sager) Oshanyk, 88, was Saturday at the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Evergreen Cemetery in Rosalia, Wash. Memorial service was also Saturday at the Rosalia United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Oshanyk, who was born in LaMoure County, N.D., died Wednesday.

She graduated from high school in St. John, N.D., and later taught school in the Wilton, N.D. area. In 1929 she married Alex Oshanyk.

They were partners in retail stores in Wilton and Deer Lodge, Mont. They moved to Auburn, Wash., in 1958.

Mrs. Oshanyk moved to in Rosalia in 1987 and had lived in Fairfield for four years.

She was a member of the White River Presbyterian Church in Auburn.

Survivors include two daughters, Genece Warren of Virginia Beach, Va., and Margaret Kernkamp of Rosalia; a brother and three sisters, all in North Dakota; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the White River Presbyterian Church in Auburn.

Kenneth McDowell Davenport, Wash.

Memorial service for Kenneth L. McDowell, 72, is planned for 11 a.m. Thursday at the Davenport United Methodist Church. Strate Funeral Home in Davenport is in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. McDowell, who was born in Wilbur, Wash., died Thursday.

He graduated from Wilbur High School and served in the Navy during World War II.

Mr. McDowell worked as a maintenance supervisor at Western State Hospital until his retirement..

He moved to the Davenport area about 15 years ago.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia; four sons, Jerry and Danny Little, both of Tacoma, Richard Little of Eatonville, Wash., and Jack Little of Modesto, Calif.; a daughter, Desiree Riggs of Reno, Nev.; two brothers, Bill McDowell of Davenport and Wayne McDowell of Spokane; two sisters, Bonnie Owens of Greenacres and Selma Buchanan of Davenport; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Davenport Senior Center.
