Compiled From Wire Services

Rod Strickland of the Washington Wizards was released from jail Wednesday after his arrest in Washington, D.C., on charges of drunken driving and disorderly conduct.

The 31-year-old point guard appeared briefly in court and pleaded innocent. He faces trial Jan.

21.

Strickland’s lawyer, Billy Martin, said his client had been treated “unfairly” and should not have been jailed overnight.

Police said Strickland was stopped early Wednesday after making an illegal left turn downtown and became a “little disorderly.” He is also charged with failing to show his driver’s license. Strickland refused a sobriety test.

The Chicago Bulls signed free-agent center Joe Kleine to a one-year contract. Kleine, 35, spent last season with the Phoenix Suns, Los Angeles Lakers and New Jersey Nets, averaging 2.8 points and 3.4 rebounds.
