Two Teens Face Charges After Shooting
The death of a 14-year-old boy who was shot while he and friends played with a gun has resulted in criminal charges against two juveniles.
Issac Lee was shot in the head July 15 near the Scarborough Townhomes in Redmond.
A 13-year-old Bothell boy who was Lee’s best friend pleaded innocent Wednesday to first-degree manslaughter. The Bothell boy told police the shooting was an accident; that the only reason he pulled the trigger was because he thought the gun was unloaded.
King County prosecutors also charged a 15-year-old Redmond boy with unlawful delivery of a firearm for allegedly giving Lee the .22-caliber revolver, which had a laser sight attached to it with a rubber band. The 15-year-old is to be arraigned Sept. 17.
Joe Lee, Issac’s father, has told Redmond detectives that he doesn’t want his son’s friend to be sent to jail, according to police spokesman Brian Coats.
“He said it wouldn’t do anyone any good,” Coats said.
