One Lane Of U.S. 95 Reopened Saturday
One lane of U.S. Highway 95 north of Riggins was reopened Saturday afternoon.
But traffic was slow as northbound and southbound traffic took turns working its way around the 350-footlong rockslide covering the highway. Flaggers were guiding motorists around the slide, which started a week ago.
There was no estimate of when Idaho Department of Transportation crews might have the entire road cleared.
Rocks have been coming off the same hillside for months.
Last year, the highway was closed in the same location by slides. When the highway is closed, a trip between north and south Idaho requires a detour west through Oregon and Washington or east through Montana.
