Post Falls Public Library Receives Book Donations

The Post Falls Public Library received a donation of 22 boxes of books from the Book Warehouse located at the Factory Outlet Shopping Mall in support of the library’s Friends Group, a promotion of the library’s Nov. 4 bond issue for a new building.

The books are copies of newer books that did not sell and will be stored until library facilities allow.

Lakeland Junior High School in Rathdrum wishes to thank area businesses who donated rewards for the end-of-the-year assembly awards last Spring; Pepsi of Coeur d’Alene, Allsport Trophies of Rathdrum, Hastings Music, Sports Cellar and Wild Waters, all of Coeur d’Alene, and Silverwood Theme Park. Lakeland staff members also contributed to the collection of more than 60 awards.

Warren C. Middlemist, a social worker of almost 27 years with the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare, retired earlier this summer.

Middlemist, who began his career in 1970 as a caseworker for the Department of Public Assistance in Boundary County at Bonners Ferry and later Lewiston, transferred to the Sandpoint office in 1978 where he worked in Youth Rehabilitation Services.

Middlesmist, whose experience includes human services, child protection, adoptions, juvenile justice and foster care, transferred to Coeur d’Alene in 1986. He was cited as a key member of Family and Children’s Services due to outstanding writing skills and diverse experience.

The Kootenai-Benewah Medical Society and the Kootenai-Benewah Medical Alliance recently donated $4,130 to the Coeur d’Alene Women’s Shelter to provide furnishings for the shelter which houses victims of domestic violence.

The Post Falls Eagles Post 3682 recently presented a $1,000 check to the North Idaho Cancer Center (NICC) through the Kootenai Medical Center Foundation’s executive director Jim Faucher and NICC outreach coordinator, Cindy Shannon.
