Post Falls Gets Late-Game Win

Roundup

The Post Falls High School football team prevailed in a game that wasn’t decided until the final eight seconds Friday.

The Trojans’ Adam Fehling completed a 4-yard pass to Cameron Christiansen with seconds remaining to lift Post Falls to a 20-14 victory over the visiting Cheney Blackhawks.

It was Cheney’s season-opener.

Post Falls (1-0-1) got off to an early lead in the first quarter with an 11-yard touchdown run by Nathan Lightner and a 12-yard TD pass from Fehling to receiver Christiansen.

But the Blackhawks came back in the second quarter with 14 points to tie the game at the half.

In the second half, the Blackhawk offense was effectively shut down by the Trojan defense.

The game-winning play came when Fehling rolled out of the pocket to his right and hit Christiansen in the corner of the end zone as time expired.

Running back Scott Chamberlain played a key role in the Trojan offense, contributing 178 yards on 28 carries. Fehling had 34 yards passing on eight attempts and two TDs.

For Cheney, quarterback Patrick Stiffler had 45 yards passing, completing 7 of 11 attempts. Pat Laughlin rushed for 60 yards on 13 carries.
