New faces:

Kiemle & Hagood Co. has added the following people to its staff:

Alyssa Fitzner joined the company’s Brokerage Department as an administrative assistant. She was formerly with Pentzer Corp., where she worked for two years as an administrative assistant.

Susan Person was hired as a property manager in Kiemle & Hagood’s Residential Property Management Department. She previously worked for five years at R.W. Robideaux & Co. as a property manager.

Ray Miller was named a facilities manager in the Commercial Property Management Department. He will oversee Wells Fargo Bank properties in Eastern Washington, northeast Oregon and Idaho.

Joan King was hired as an account assistant in the Residential Property Management Department. She was formerly with Trinity Universal Insurance Co.

The following physicians have been accepted for membership in the Spokane County Medical Society:

Dr. Alan Maddox has joined Diakonia Family Health in the practice of family medicine. He graduated from East Tennessee State University and completed an internship and residency at the University of Wyoming’s United Medical Center.

Dr. Randall M. Holland has joined Dr. James A. Carson in the practice of pediatric surgery. Holland graduated from the University of Washington and completed an internship and residency at the University of North Dakota and a fellowship at the University of Colorado.

Dr. Edward Garman has established a solo practice in internal medicine. He graduated from Creighton University and completed an internship and residency at St. Joseph Hospital Creighton University.

Dr. Daniel Stoop joined Family Care Center of Deer Park in the practice of family medicine. A graduate of the University of Washington, he completed an internship and residency at Family Medicine Spokane.

Columbia Paint & Coatings has added two employees to its Spokane office:

Stephen Gordon was named executive vice president. Gordon previously was with The Glidden Co. for 15 years, most recently as sales and marketing manager for the Southwest Division, managing 70 stores in three states.

Shawn Adam joins Columbia Paint as vice president-sales and marketing Eastern Region. He was previously with Georgia Pacific for 10 years, most recently as branch manager for Eastern Washington, North Idaho and Western Montana.

Dr. Michael Stephens has joined Family Health Center. Stephens graduated from the University of Washington School of Medicine and completed an internship and residency at Family Medicine of Spokane. His practice will include obstetrics, pediatrics and preventive health care.

Moving up:

G. Stephen Hindley has been named president of ALSC Architects P.S. Hindley, who has 22 years of design experience, has been a principal at ALSC since 1987. He has had a hand in projects such as the Holland Library addition at Washington State University, the Spokane Community College Business and Industrial Technology Building and the new School of Law Building at Gonzaga University.

Margie McHugill has been promoted to marketing specialist with Crown West Realty L.L.C. McHugill spent three years working as the senior administrative assistant to the firm’s president and Marketing Department.

Gordon Chapman, a professor of accounting at Eastern Washington University, has been named the E. Clair Daniels Distinguished Professor of Accounting. Chapman, who has taught accounting at EWU since 1979, served as chairman of the Department of Accounting from 1980-85 and was acting dean of the College of Business Administration from 1986-88.

Elected:

Officers of the American Women’s Society of Certified Public Accountants of Spokane for the 1997-98 year are: President, Karen Burkhardt, BDO Seidman LLP; vice-president, Jan Larson, Whitworth College; treasurer, Linda Lynn, Mackay Manufacturing; secretary, Kathryn McKinley, Phillabaum, Ledlin & Matthews; past president, Karen Nelson, Larry Santschi, CPA; national director, Susan Brann, Olivetti North America.

Stephen Rice, of Aherin, Rice & Anegon in Lewiston, has been elected president of the Idaho State Bar Board of Commissioners for a six-month term. He was elected to a three-year term as a commissioner of the Idaho State Bar in July 1995.

New officers of the Inland Northwest Society of Consulting Professionals include: president, Harvey A. Meier, Harvey A. Meier Co.; vice president and president-elect, Jennifer A. Leake, Profiles/Leake & Associates; secretary, Duane Wilson, Duane Wilson & Associates; treasurer, Bert Mills, Mills Group Northwest; and at-large officers, Jerome L. Haupt, Haupt Management Consultants, and William T. Olson, Effective Management Systems Corp.

Certifications:

Patrick O’Rourke, a commercial real estate agent for O’Rourke Realty, has been awarded the Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) designation by the Commercial Investment Real Estate Institute. Of the estimated 125,000 commercial real estate practitioners in North America, only 5,200 currently hold the CCIM designation.

The state of Washington has designated Lily Baldwin as a minority mental health specialist in Hispanic population. Baldwin, who works at Spokane Mental Health, earned the designation after satisfying stringent requirements over more than two years.
