Micron Earns Anti-Pollution Award
Micron Technology Inc. has become only the fifth Northwest company to earn the Environmental Protection Agency’s Evergreen Award for Pollution Prevention.
The award was presented to the semiconductor company Monday as Gov. Phil Batt marked the kickoff of national Pollution Prevention Week in Idaho.
“Companies that receive this award for pollution prevention represent the leading edge of an enormous societal change,” regional EPA administrator Chuck Clarke said. “They are models of how American businesses can achieve economic prosperity while not jeopardizing the environmental quality of future generations.”
The agency honored Micron for its efforts to reduce solid and hazardous wastes, air emissions and water discharges.
