Architect Will Speak At WSU-Spokane
Internationally renowned landscape architect Ian McHarg will speak at 7:30 tonight at Washington State University-Spokane’s Phase One Academic Building on the Riverpoint campus.
McHarg, whom former Interior Secretary Stewart Udall put in the same league as environmentalists Rachel Carson and Aldo Leopold, will discuss the evolution of landscape architecture and planning in America, as well as the growing international environmental movement.
McHarg is retired chairman of the University of Pennsylvania Department of Landscape Architecture and Regional Planning. Copies of his books - “Design With Nature” and his autobiography, “A Quest for Life” - will be available for purchase during a reception that begins at 6:30 p.m.
