Hints From Heloise

King Features Syndicate

Dear Heloise: I am a professional calligrapher and work with many brides and mothers of the bride in addressing wedding invitations. My hint is twofold.

First, when ordering the invitations, make sure that the number ordered is 25 to 50 over the number of invitations that will be sent out, not the same as the number of the guests. The number of guests may be much more than the number of invitations needed, as many guests are families or married couples.

The second part of the hint is to purchase a ZIP code directory from the post office to double-check the ZIP codes on the list. Having complete addresses with correct codes will enable the invitations to reach the guests as quickly as possible. - Lisa Larkin Hollis, Gretna, La.
