Tyree Clowe Central Valley Year: Junior Sport: Football Position: Rb

Good running backs break tackles. Tyree Clowe seems intent on breaking tacklers.

The Central Valley junior rushed for 195 yards and four touchdowns on 28 carries Friday night to save the Greater Spokane League-favorite Bears. His last score, with 1:24 to play, gave CV a 26-21 victory over Ferris.

“He just stepped it up in the second half when we needed him,” CV coach Rick Giampietri said. “He took it to another level. He ran that hard the last two games last year (175 each against East Valley and Kamiakin), so he has kind of started where he left off.”

After looking a films, Clowe admitted he missed some openings when he was barreling through a defensive back.

“There were a lot of instances where I go one way when I should have cut another,” he said. “When I have the ball, I just react. I just enjoy contact. I feel like I get to hit people harder when I’m on offense. They have to come to me, but I can make the initial contact.”

That may be because he has deceptive speed for his size - 6-foot-1, 190 pounds. He is the second-fastest CV player.

He would seem to be a natural linebacker, but delivering blows from both sides of the ball might be more punishment than any foe deserves.
