Ewu Volleyball Squad Opens League With Win
Eastern Washington University opened its Big Sky Conference volleyball season Thursday in the same fashion as most of its non-league matches: on top at the end.
Lynn Robison’s 18 digs and 14 kills, and Lora Botha’s 15 kills and eight blocks helped the Eagles (7-2, 1-0) to a 13-15, 15-12, 15-11, 15-12 win at Portland State (5-7, 0-1).
Kim Exner added 24 kills, Lacey Coover 19 digs and Kim Maxwell 50 assists for the Eagles, who travel to Idaho State Saturday.
Eavi Shovlin totaled 18 digs and 17 kills, and Tori Gomez added 59 assists for the Vikings, who hit a match-best .321 in the third game.
Ex-WSU player gets coaching job
Former Washington State University women’s basketball player Amy Saneholtz has been hired as an assistant coach at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in California.
