Phone Pirate Who Made $10,000 In Sex Calls Faces Jail
A man who broke into more than a dozen homes in his neighborhood and stole portable telephones to make $10,000 worth of phone sex calls could get up to 15 months in prison.
Thomas Roche III, 36, pleaded guilty Friday to 10 counts of third-degree burglary.
His lawyer, Sandra Davis, said Roche made the calls because he felt lonely.
Area residents had been reporting burglaries in their homes for several months, although the only things taken were cordless phones. In other homes, the phones were not missing, but calls had been made to 900-number sex lines in Georgia, Florida, South America and Africa.
