Three Men Sought On Gang Rape Charge Sandpoint Woman Says Attack Took Place At Field Near Cda

A 19-year-old Sandpoint woman told police she was gang-raped in a field by three men she met during a weekend drinking party in Coeur d’Alene.

The woman told police the attack happened early Sunday in the back of a pickup truck off Ramsey Road.

She said the three men took turns raping her while the other two held her down.

She suffered bruises on her legs and was treated at Bonner General Hospital and released.

No arrests had been made Tuesday. Police withheld several details, such as descriptions the woman gave of two of the suspects and the ages of all three, to avoid alerting the men to the investigation, said Lt. Don Jiran. The location of the party also was not disclosed.

According to the police report, the woman went with a friend to a party after spending Saturday shopping in Coeur d’Alene. She told police she had been drinking heavily and agreed to go to a fast-food restaurant with three men she had met at the party.

The men began making sexual comments on the way to the restaurant, but the woman dismissed the crude remarks and remained quiet, according to the report.

The driver of the truck then suddenly pulled into a field off Ramsey Road, possibly near a school.

There, the men dragged the woman out of the cab and forced her into the truck’s bed where she was stripped of her clothes. Each man raped her while the other two held her down.

After the attack, the woman gathered her clothes from the bed of the truck and rode back to the party with the men, who laughed and made jokes.

When the woman walked to her car, one of the men yelled that she was too drunk to drive. She drove home to Sandpoint an hour and a half later and called police late Sunday.

The woman told police the gray, extended-cab pickup truck was newer and had a bench-style front seat.

Its make was not released.

She described one of her attackers as 5 feet 9 inches tall and thin with blond hair.
