6 Highway Projects Scheduled For 1998
Six highway projects in North Idaho are set to go in 1998, the Idaho Transportation Department Board decided last week.
The $238 million construction budget for 1998 includes $19 million to reconstruct and realign about 2.5 miles of U.S. Highway 95 north of Bonners Ferry. The project also will eliminate curves and ease the steep road grade.
More than $1 million will be spent to rebuild the surface of the U.S. 95 bridge that crosses the Spokane River. About $530,000 will be spent to replace the old wooden bridge on state Highway 97, near Wolf Lodge.
Highway 97 also will receive $1 million worth of guard rail.
Beck Road in Kootenai County will get railroad crossing gates and signals as will Samuels Road in Bonner County. , DataTimes
