Micron Income Slips In 1997

From Staff And Wire Reports

Boise-based Micron Technology Inc. reported lower net income for 1997 for the year ending Aug. 28.

The semiconductor-maker said net income slipped to $332 million in 1997, compared to $594 million last year.

Micron officials blamed poor market conditions and low seimcondutor prices. The company earned a 9 percent net profit despite a 75 percent decrease in semicondutor average selling prices, the company said.

Micron’s percentage of sales of PC systems outside of semicondutor memory increased from 31 percent in 1996 to 42 percent in 1997. , DataTimes
