League changes: The league split into two five team divisions. There will be four dual meets each week with one school in each division having a bye. The league title will be determined when the top two teams in each division meet, May 6 for girls and May 7 for boys.

Defending champions: The Mead boys have won 12 straight league titles and have a 149-0 record in dual meets over 16 years. The Mead girls won their fifth straight title.

Returning district champions: Boys: Tyrone Asterino, Ferris, 110 hurdles, long jump; Josh Hemenway, CV, 400; Marc Hinckley, CV, high jump. Girls: Abby Horstein, Mead, 100; Teresa Brooks, LC, 400; April Gallagher, Mead, discus; Casey Lektorich, U-Hi, javelin; Julie Schroeder, U-Hi, triple jump; Marie Cox, CV, high jump.

Returning state champions: Lektorich.

Returning state placers: Jonathan Parker, Ferris, 7th in 200; Asterino, 5th, 110 hurdles; David Sandberg, NC, 4th in shot put; Chris Callahan, Mead, 2nd in javelin; Jayson Rayson, LC, 6th in high jump; Brooks, 3rd in 400; Gallagher, 5th in discus; Schroeder, 5th in long jump, 8th in triple jump; Allie Bailey, Mead, 3rd in triple jump.

New coaches: Tiffany Degenhart, Mead girls; Joe Kostecka, Mt. Spokane boys; Annette Pedersen, Mt. Spokane girls.

Big meets: The Pasco Invitational is April 18, the Mooberry at Rogers is April 25 and the Strandberg at CV is May 9.

Postseason: District May 14-15 at CV; regional May 22-23, Richland; state May 29-30, Tacoma.

Predicted order of finish, boys: Division A - Ferris, University, Shadle Park, Rogers, Gonzaga Prep. Division B - Mead, Central Valley, Lewis and Clark, Mt. Spokane, North Central.
