Gilmore’S Three-Run Double Ignites Bears
Ryan Gilmore’s bases-clearing double highlighted an eight-run third inning Thursday in Moscow’s 12-2 non-league baseball win at Pullman.
The Bears (6-4) sent 13 batters to the plate in the third, when they collected six of their 10 hits. Moscow’s Tony Rinaldi singled, doubled, tripled and drove in four runs.
Pullman is 2-3.
Bobby Jenks struck out 10 in five innings as visiting Lakeland defeated Cheney 7-2 in a non-leaguer.
Lakeland’s Dusty Dershen and Chris Jepsen finished a combined 5 for 8, with four RBIs. Steve Hull and Matt Conrath doubled for Cheney (0-4).
Ryan Redinger hit a two-run homer in the second as visiting Priest River built a 9-0 lead during a 13-7 non-league win over Newport (0-4).
Newport’s Mike Little hit a solo homer in the fifth.
Softball
Kasey Kinziger and Emy Makus homered as Moscow defeated visiting Cheney 10-4 in a non-leaguer.
Sarah Lathen’s single began Moscow’s four-run third, and Amber Matthews added a two-run triple in the fourth for a 7-4 lead.
Cheney is 1-4.
Boys soccer
Ben Graham’s 30-yard shot just before halftime allowed visiting Moscow to edge Pullman 1-0 in the final Palouse Cup.
The series is being discontinued because Idaho schools will play soccer in the fall next year.
Prep golf
Coeur d’Alene’s boys and girls outscored Post Falls and Lake City in matches held at the Coeur d’Alene Resort.
For the Vikings, the boys shot 308 and the girls 447 on the par-71 course. Tops for PF were Cameron Chestnut’s 83 and DeeDee Brown’s 119.
Golf
Entries are due today for Monday’s 1998 G.T.E. Wireless Invitational Golf Tournament at the Coeur d’Alene Resort Golf Course.
The tournament benefits the local Wishing Star Foundation.
Cost is $100 per player for the four-person, best-ball format. The field is limited to the first 124 players.

Track and field
University of Idaho’s Jeff High finished 11th in the men’s hammer throw and Amber Sielaff 12th in the women’s competition at the Texas Relays in Austin on Thursday. High’s mark was 180 feet, 1 inch - a personal best. Sielaff’s mark was 153-6.
Basketball

The Idaho Youth Soccer Association will hold a college information workshop at 7 p.m. today in North Idaho College’s Todd Hall Auditorium.
Three college coaches will answer questions about how to choose a good college soccer program.
