Goodman Is Lone Returnee
The North Idaho College men’s basketball roster will be almost completely overhauled next season.
Coach Hugh Watson only expects freshman wing Johnny Goodman to return from last year’s club.
Watson said freshmen Eihab Al-Arorey, Kellogg’s Casey Fisher and Joe Clay have contacted other schools about transferring.
Talented freshman forward JoVann Johnson also is expected to transfer, but Watson knew that was probable when Johnson signed at NIC.
Watson’s son, Gabe, a freshman guard, has committed to play at Lee University in Cleveland, Tenn.
NIC offered Post Falls High standout guard Chad Quesnell a scholarship, but Quesnell appears set to sign at Walla Walla.
“It looks like a good fit for Chad,” said Post Falls coach Wade Quesnell, Chad’s father. “We think he’ll have a good chance to get some court time there.”
Quesnell was MVP of the Border League.
Goyne commits
NIC’s Tammy Goyne has orally committed to play basketball at Tulsa.
Goyne is an Australian native and one of Tulsa’s selling points was that it will participate in a 1999 summer tour of Australia.
Goyne was selected to the All-Region 18 and All-Region 18 Tournament first teams. She led the conference with 3.7 steals per game and was among league leaders at 15 points per game.
