Sporting clays

A special school is coming to Spokane to take the mystery out of pointing, leading and firing a shotgun to drop clay targets or game birds.

The Northwest Wing & Clay Shooting School has scheduled two day-long sessions at Landt Farms Sporting Clays on May 1 and May 2. The school travels to facilities throughout the region to teach skills to shooters of all levels.

Hunters looking for a tune-up also find the schools helpful, said Ellwood Landt, who runs the sporting clays range just west of Spokane off Four Mound Road.

Participants will shoot at least 200 rounds each.

Beginners learn the basics of breaking clay targets while more experienced shooters receive instruction on breaking harder-to-hit targets.

“All beginners are made to feel at home,” said instructor Robert Knopf of Woodland, Wash.

Cost for the school is $205 plus ammo. To pre-register, contact Landt at 466-4036.
