Backwoods Party Attracts Deputies

The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Department handed out almost 30 citations Sunday following a party in the backwoods near the Little North Fork River Road.

Officers issued 10 citations for minors possessing alcohol, 10 citations for possession of marijuana, six citations for possession of drug paraphernalia and three citations for frequenting a place where drugs are used. Deputies also arrested one drunk driver who was leaving the party.

Sheriff’s officials say such backwoods parties can force closure of public lands and urge people with information about illegal activities in rural areas to call the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Department at 664-1511.
