‘You’Re A Good Man’ Opens Friday
The Lake City Playhouse in Coeur d’Alene opens the ‘60s feel-good musical, “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown,” on Friday.
This warm-hearted classic is based on the “Peanuts” comic strip characters. The director, Bonnie Haleen, previously directed a successful production of the show in Sacramento.
The cast includes Frank Mercer as Charlie Brown, Sandy Gookin as Lucy, Lorna Hamilton as Snoopy, Mike Grabenstein as Linus, Kirk Parge as Schroeder, Camille Maynard as Patty and Ginny Taft as the Cute Little Redhead.
An opening night gala will begin at 7 p.m. with refreshments, followed by curtain at 8 p.m. The run continues Saturday, Sunday, May 1-3 and 7-9. All shows are at 8 p.m. except Sunday matinees at 2 p.m.

‘The Good Woman of Setzuan’
The Whitworth College Theatre presents Bertolt Brecht’s landmark drama, “The Good Woman of Setzuan,” beginning tonight on the campus.
This play is a parable about a Chinese woman who opens a store in Setzuan. She is so generous to the needy that her shop nearly fails. Her ruthless cousin comes to the rescue.
Brecht, a German Marxist, uses this story to raise questions on the issues of economics and humanity. Is it possible to be a good person in an unjust world?
Director Diane Trotter said that in this world of welfare reform and corporate downsizing, Brecht’s concerns remain relevant.
The show opens tonight and continues Friday, Saturday and Sunday. All shows are at 8 p.m. except the 2 p.m. Sunday matinee.

‘Electra’
The University of Idaho presents “Electra,” one of the masterpieces of Greek theater, beginning tonight.
Euripides’ play is about a woman who is obsessed with avenging her father’s murder after the Trojan Wars. She extracts vengeance - but with a price.
Tom Glynn directs this adaptation, which integrates music and dance into the story.
“Electra” runs Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and continues April 29-30 and May 1-2. All shows are at 7:30 p.m. except the Sunday matinee at 2 p.m.

‘Angry Housewives’
Those head-banging housewives are back in Spokane Community College’s production of “Angry Housewives,” beginning Monday.
This punk-parody musical is about four housewives who decide to make some extra money by forming a punk band.
The director is Ron Heiss, and the cast includes Kao Xu Chang, Shauna D. Collins, Benson Harper, Alexander Mickschl, Anthony Charles Newcomb, Stacy Smith, Jan Spaar and Jesse Strasner.
The show runs April 27, 28 and 30 at 7 p.m., with a 1:30 p.m. matinee on Wednesday.
Admission to the matinee is free for students, faculty and staff. Tickets to the other performances are $5.
A dinner theater presentation, hosted by the SCC Culinary Arts Department, will be on May 1, with dinner at 6:30 p.m. and curtain at 8 p.m. The cost is $30 per person in advance. Call 533-7283.
